Power of Attorney

If you wish to appoint a person(s) or a representative to pursue matters on your behalf in Ethiopia, you will require a Power of Attorney.

The power of attorney cannot be sent by email or copy.

  • For power of attorney for property matters (money, land, house, care, etc.), you should come to the Embassy in person to sign in front of the officer.
  • For non-property matters (birth certificates, educational documents, unmarried certificates, etc.), the way to make the power of attorney is to send it by post with a copy of the document, ID, and a stamped empty envelope to the embassy.

Before submitting your documents to the Embassy, please ensure that you understand the contents of the document.

Submission of documents takes place on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, Morning 8:30am – 12:30 pm Afternoon 1:30pm – 5:30pm

Requirements

Documents required are dependent on the type of service you require:

For property matters (money,land,house, etc.), the person who gives the power of attorney has to have an Ethiopian passport or an Ethiopian Orgen ID.

For Ethiopian Citizens and Ethiopian-Origin ID card holders

  • Power of Attorney
  • Your Ethiopian passport or Ethiopian-origin ID card
  • For Ethiopian passport holders, evidence of your status in the German – ID
  • The application fee.

For Germany and overseas passport holders

  • Power of Attorney
  • ID or Passport copy
  • The application fee

Fees and Payment

The correct fee must be submitted with your documents.

  • Customers with an Ethiopian passport or Ethiopian origin ID should pay 57.82 euros.
  • Germany /Other Passports should pay 60.76 euros.

Submit your documents to the Embassy

  • If you want to send by post, you have to send the power of attorney, a resident ID or pass copy, the payment receipts (payment is a bank transfer, stamped), and an empty envelope for return.

    • You must write a note or letter explaining what you want, what you want to send, how many, and any other ideas.
